Waterloo, IA - Exceptional Persons, Inc. Children and Family Services Director Receives Janet George Leadership Award.
Marilynn Pierce, EPI Children and Family Services Director, was recently honored with the Janet George Leadership award.
This award was established in 2003 by the Child Care and Early Education Network in memory of Janet George, a leader in Iowa’s Child Care Resource and Referral System since the 1980s. The award seeks to recognize those who have a passionate commitment to young children, child care and the Iowa CCR&R. Recipients of the Janet George Award mentor through example, have a commitment to providing the highest level of quality service, and treat every parent and provider with the utmost importance.
The Iowa Child Care Resource and Referral directors nominated MariLynn Pierce for this esteemed award noting her dedication to the field covers both the regulatory and technical assistance systems.
MariLynn has served as the Children and Family Services Director since 2004 and will be retiring this year. Her dedication and love of her profession has been a valuable asset to EPI. “This has been a time filled with professional growth opportunities for me personally and opportunities to influence the quality of services available to support child care providers and ultimately the families they serve. My professional life has been filled with wonderful people and made richer because of the many experiences and opportunities that have come my way,” Pierce said.
